Setting up your environment: signing up, first settings and what members see

Sign up, choose your Baila address, set your details, logo and language, connect Mollie, create your first activity and see what members see.

You set up your environment in three parts: you sign up on baila.me, you fill in your details, logo and language in the back office, and you create your first activity. Every new environment starts on Discover, the free version. You can receive money as soon as you connect your own Mollie account.

How do I create an environment?

You sign up with the form on Get started with Baila. It takes three steps:

  1. Choose your Baila address, for example yourschool.baila.me, and click "Check availability". An address has 3 to 40 characters: lowercase letters, digits and hyphens.
  2. Enter your email address, your first and last name and a password. A phone number is optional. Click "Create my environment". By doing so you agree to the terms and conditions and the privacy statement.
  3. You receive an email with a 6-digit code. Enter it and click "Confirm the code".

You do not need payment details to sign up.

What happens after signing up?

A progress page shows the status of your sign-up. At the moment the Baila team first reviews every new sign-up itself; after that your environment is set up. You receive an email as soon as it is ready, with a button to your back office. A second environment on the same account is always reviewed first. After you sign up, Baila contacts you for a short intake.

What does my environment start with?

Your environment starts on Discover, with a schedule, member management, locations and events. A sample event is ready as a draft, with "Voorbeeld:" in front of the name. Members do not see it; you edit it or delete it. In the menu under Tasks you find your first steps, such as connecting Mollie, arranging your terms and conditions and creating your first course or event.

Where do I enter my school's details?

In the back office under System > Company info, or in the account centre on baila.me with your environment. Both places fill in the same details: the name, address, phone number, Chamber of Commerce and VAT number, WhatsApp, your website and the link to your own terms. Your school's name was derived from your Baila address when you signed up; you change it here. Only an administrator sees this section.

How do I set my logo and branding?

Under System > Branding. There you upload your logo, enter your Instagram, Facebook and TikTok address, manage the background photos of the front office and choose how the back office looks. Branding works in every version, including Discover.

How do I choose the language of my environment?

Under Members > Sign-up, or Members > Settings if you have courses, at "Default language of the front office". You choose Nederlands or English. Visitors and new members see that language in the front office and in the emails of your environment. A member can choose another language in their profile; that choice takes precedence. Texts you write yourself, such as class descriptions and news, stay in the language you type them in. A new environment gets the language of the page on which you signed up.

How do I connect Mollie?

On the Plan screen in the back office, under Payments. If you do not have a Mollie account yet, you can create one while connecting. Mollie checks who you are before money can go to your account. Turn on iDEAL in Mollie; for subscriptions you also need SEPA direct debit. Mollie decides itself when a payment method is switched on. As soon as the connection is in place, Payments opens: paid classes, tickets and the ticket scanner, class passes and trial classes. Payments has no monthly fee; you pay per payment.

How do I create my first activity or subscription?

With "Quick create" on the back office dashboard. Choose what you want to create, enter a name, date and time and save. You then see the link to share. In Discover you create single activities and events. In Discover members can sign up for your classes for free; no payment is requested. Charging a price is possible from Payments. Courses and subscriptions with automatic direct debit belong to Premium. How to set up a subscription is explained in Creating a subscription.

What do members see in the front office?

Members and visitors use the front office at your school's address, for example yourschool.baila.me. The Schedule and your Terms are always there. What else appears depends on your version and settings, such as Events, Courses, the Ticket shop, Subscriptions and News. After logging in, a member sees their Bookings, Notifications, My profile and My purchases, and with a subscription also My subscription. Members can put the front office on their home screen as an app. The front office is available in Dutch and English. How members register and how you put your schedule on your own website is explained in Online registration and your offering on your own website.

Which plan includes this?

Signing up, your details, branding, language, the schedule and events are part of Discover, the free version. With a connected Mollie account Payments opens, without a monthly fee. Courses, subscriptions with automatic direct debit and communication are part of Premium. You switch to Premium by emailing [email protected]. The amounts are on the Pricing page.
