How you teach decides what you set up
A school first chooses a form for its offer: ongoing classes, courses with a start and an end, one-off events or single classes. Baila has its own setup for each form, and most schools combine two of them.
| How you teach | What you set up in Baila | What the student buys |
|---|---|---|
| Ongoing, the same classes every week | Membership (1x, 2x, 3x a week) | Monthly amount, automatic renewal, cancel yourself |
| Courses with a start and an end (12 classes) | Course with sign-up and a course price; optionally covered by a membership | Pay once per course, or join on the membership |
| Bootcamps, workshops, parties | Activity or event with tickets | Pay once, ticket with QR code |
| Single classes, irregular dancers | Class pass, or a single class with direct payment | Credits up front, or per class |
Membership
You create a monthly price per membership type and run several side by side, for instance for one, two or three classes a week. Direct debit runs automatically through your own Mollie account: the first payment sets up the mandate, after that the membership renews month after month. You set the notice period, pausing and upgrading or downgrading, and an announcement goes out before each payment. The student sees in the frontoffice what is running and pauses, changes or cancels it themselves, without emailing first. Failed payments show up in the backoffice.
Course with sign-up
A course has a start and end date, a group and a level; you give it a course price and a maximum per role, so leaders and followers stay in balance. Sign-up is per course group through the frontoffice, on the phone too, and you see per group how full it is. The student signs up for the whole series, pays once up front by iDEAL, credit card or PayPal and sees when the course starts and which classes belong to it. Anyone with a membership joins on that membership. Levels with progression let a student move on to the next group afterwards.
Activity or event with tickets
A bootcamp or workshop is a short series with its own price, a limited number of places and its own sales page; signing up and paying happen up front. A party or festival gets an event page with programme, times and location, and you sell tickets in price phases such as an early bird. Every buyer pays once and gets a ticket with a QR code; the buyer pays the service fee at checkout and a free ticket costs nothing. At the door you scan with your phone and whoever is in shows up as checked in right away. Guests on your guest list get the same ticket with a QR code.
Class pass or single class
You give a class pass a number of credits and a validity; the student buys it online and Baila keeps track of balance, validity and catch-up credit per student. For a class the student redeems a credit themselves in the frontoffice, and anyone who cancels in time can get that credit back automatically. A single class you open with direct payment: the dancer pays per class, without a membership or pass. That way someone who comes irregularly simply joins in, without you keeping a list.
Most schools combine two forms
A membership for the regular group, a class pass or single class for those who come irregularly, and events alongside. Start with your main form and add at most one: every form you set up also has to be explained to your students and kept up in your backoffice.
